Built for large catalogs

// WHY IT MATTERS

Search is where buyers tell you what they want.

WordPress’ default search looks through post content, often misses SKUs, and makes the visitor wait for a full page before they see anything. Many live search plugins are quick in the dropdown, then open a results page that shows something else: other products, another count, another order.

Angry Ajax Search keeps its own small index of titles and SKUs and uses one query for both, so the results page always delivers what the dropdown promised.

“If the dropdown says 24 products, the results page shows 24.”

Answers while they type

A small index table and an early endpoint keep the dropdown quick, even on large catalogs.

Finds SKUs and parts of words

Every word, in any order, anywhere in the title or SKU: “g10q” finds “1xG10Q”.

Same results on every page

The results page shows the dropdown’s products, same count, same order, whatever builds the page.

Stays on your server

No external search service and no tracking. Your own database answers every search.

// HOW IT WORKS

Three steps. A few minutes.

01

Activate

The search index builds itself in the background, in small batches that suit shared hosting too.

02

Add the shortcode

Put [angry_ajax_search] in your header, a page or a widget. It works anywhere a shortcode does.

03

Make it yours

Change every text, the dropdown position and the results page, and add your own CSS with a live preview.

// BUILT TO BE LIGHT

Fast for visitors. Light on your server.

One small script and one stylesheet, no jQuery, loaded only on pages that show the search box. In wp-admin and the REST API nothing changes, so product pickers and bulk editors keep WordPress’ own search.

No jQuery

One small script and one stylesheet, only where the search box is.

Its own index

Searches never load products. A compact table keeps titles and SKUs ready.

wp-admin untouched

Admin screens, the REST API and bulk editors keep WordPress’ own search.

No tracking

No external requests and no tracking. Searches never leave your site.

// FAQ

Good questions.

Which results page does it use?

By default WooCommerce’s own search page, which works with your theme’s search template and with page builder archives. If your results live on a page of their own, enter its URL and a query parameter in the settings.

Does it work with page builders?

Yes. The search box is a shortcode, so it goes anywhere a shortcode can. On the results page, product lists built with Elementor, JetEngine and similar builders, and their AJAX filters and pagination, show the search results.

How large a catalog can it handle?

Tens of milliseconds for about 10,000 products and under a fifth of a second for about 50,000 on a decent server. Catalogs with hundreds of thousands of products need a strong database server.

I use another search plugin as well.

Plugins that replace WordPress’ search (Relevanssi, SearchWP, FiboSearch and others) can change the results page too. The settings page warns you when one is active. Use one search plugin for product searches.

Are product variations searched?

The parent product is indexed (title and SKU). Variations are not listed separately.

Does it send any data?

No. Your own site answers every search from its own database. No external requests, no tracking.
